We Are Knitters – Martina Cardigan

This project means a lot of “first times” for me.
It was the first time that I tried We Are Knitters (WAK from here on) wool; it was the first time that I’ve knitted a cardigan sewing the pieces together: usually I knit cardigans and sweaters in one piece, from the top down. It was also the first time that I followed step by step a pattern designed by somebody else. The few times that I tried this before, I’ve always found myself changing something to adapt it to my taste.
Of course I’d seen pictures of WAK projects online, mostly on Instagram, and they always seems quite good. I like the simple approach they have, they are very similar to my taste. But I’d never purchased a kit before. So, when they asked me if I wanted to try a kit I said yes, I’m a curious person and I wanted to touch their wool with my own hands. I chose the Martina Cardigan, I liked the elegant and cosy vibe of it. I imagined myself wearing it like a jacket during the autumn months (hey colder weather, would you like to come out so I can actually do this please?).
The pattern is quite simple to follow and if you have any doubts about some the techniques used, you can go check out their website and see if they have a video on how to make it. I usually knitted this pattern during the evenings, the same as when I try to knit personal projects (this rule of mine is quite new, let’s see how it will go), so it took me a couple of weeks to finish it, I think. Then the part I was most afraid of arrived: I needed to sew every piece together and, hey!, it went well and now I have this soft cloud to wear (autumn weather I beg you, please come to me, I need you, I need to curl up onto the sofa watching Harry Potter movies while outside is cold and rainy. I want to wear this cardigan without sweating my life away).

Questo progetto ha significato molte prime volte per me.
Era la prima volta che provavo le lane di We Are Knitters (WAK da qui in avanti); era la prima volta che facevo a maglia un cardigan che non fosse un pezzo unico, di solito lavoro capi top down. Era anche la prima volta che seguivo passo passo un pattern, senza cambiarne una virgola.
Ovviamente avevo già visto vari progetti di WAk online, più che altro su Instagram. Mi piace lo stile semplice che hanno, molto simile al mio gusto estetico. Ma non avevo mai comprato un loro kit prima. Così, quando mi hanno contattata per chiedermi se mi interessava provare i loro kit ho detto di sì, ero curiosa. Ho scelto il Martina Cardigan, mi piace il mix di eleganza e comodità che trasmette. Me lo immagino indossato come giacca neoi mei autunnali.
Il pattern è abbastanza semplice da seguire e se avete dei dubbi su una tecnica, basta andare sul loro sito e vedere se hanno un video che fa al caso vostro. Tenevo questo progetto per la sera (sto cercando di seguire questa nuova regola che mi son data, ossia di lasciare le serate per i progetti personali). Ci ho messo un paio di settimane, credo. Anche la parte che più mi spaventava, quella del cucire assieme tutti i pezzi, è andata meglio del previsto.
